Not even the weather could get in the way

Lucky boys. Nolan's Squirt team got to play at the Urban Plains Center. The Urban Plains Center is a new 5,000 seat hockey arena. The UP Center is home to the new USHL hockey team the Fargo Force, Fargo high school hockey, the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championship and many other special events.

Moorhead Squirt Orange played the Fargo Raiders and won the game 8-3. It was an enjoyable game played in a beautiful facility, with a fairly nasty winter storm raging outside. But we were warm, seated in luxury and feeling pretty special... and the weather took a back seat to it all today.

  1. You know when my 12 year old son comes home from school, he says to me, "Mom, check the hockey mom's blog for more pictures." Your blog is becoming famous around here :)

  4. What a beautiful facility!! Did one town/city foot the bill or was it the state who built it?

  6. September mom, that is so funny to hear, but glad he finds it interesting!

Eileen, it does look like it could house an NHL team! It really is a memorable experience for our kids to get to play there :)

Susan, yes, I think so too... don't we all hope that someone will say those things about us one day?

Bonnie, it was built using both private and corporate funds and bonds... the state was not involved, just the city in conjunction with the private sector.

Crochet, yes we wouldn't skate much at all if it weren't for the indoor arenas :)

  7. Your boys are lucky to play in such great facilities. I imagine every young boy on the ice in that game thinking about who it would feel playing a a game with this stadium packed to the brim.

  8. Lucky boy to be playing in such an expensive arena. Dave and I keep saying we need to check it out since we are helping pay for it :-)

  10. That is so exciting!!! I have to tell you, usually I'm thinking, "Man, Nolan is getting so big!" But watching him drag that huge duffle into that huge arena... he suddenly seemed very little to me again!
