Golf adventures.

Nolan

Cousin Gunnar

Colton

Nolan, Colton and their cousin Gunnar competed in their end of the season golf tournament on Monday. We awoke to thunderstorm clouds and the threat of rain, but it held off long enough for our tournament. Each of the boys played in their own division. Colton in the 8 and under. Nolan in the 9 and 10 year olds and Gunnar in the 11 and 12 year olds.

They each played a number of holes either on the course or on a manufactured spot on the driving range for Colton. All three of them putted the same course roped off on the putting green. We couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised at the little awards ceremony at the end of the tourney. Gunnar got first place in putting for his age group with a 20. I think he had plans of retiring the clubs for next year, but Uncle Rick says "no way." You are a for real golfer when you take first place and you need to continue!

And Nolan tied for first place in his age group with an 18. Not to be forgotten however was Colton who also won his age group with a 19! And Colton got 3rd place overall on his holes. Leave it to the 7 year old to show everyone how its done. He had his own little following of kids who clapped and cheered for him when he won and he absolutely beamed.

But our early morning showed a bit in our baseball games later that night. Nolan struggled with pitching, as did the other two boys who had played in the golf tourney. We won the first game and lost our second one. We will need a big win tomorrow night to earn a spot in the championship bracket for Thursday and Friday.

I've been messing with the blog design all day. I've settled on this for a bit. I'll try it on and see if it fits. What do you think? Rick cast a no vote because he says all of my links are at the bottom and nobody will scroll down to see anything. But I love the clean look. What do you think? Which do you prefer, content in the sidebar, or clean design?

  1. Well done on the golf tourney. I live next to a golf course and my daughter wants to play. I'm thinking next time the have a free open day of taking her along.

I like the clean look of your blog but I have to agree with Rick. I like links in a side bar.

I'm thinking of changing my blog up too.

  2. I love the pick of Nolan when the golf club is curved...isn't that amazing! I am always amazed on tv when the show shots in slow motion and the ball actually changes shape as it is hit...yeah I know little things amaze me :)

Congrats on their success.....what an awesome day!

I like the new header....as for the content I think that's a personal decision. Since I'm already a follower I really don't need to look for other content much so it doesn't bother me. If I were to ask my husband about that he'd had no clue what I was talking about..isn't it neat that your hubby actually cares :)

  3. Hi! I popped in for a quick visit...still on vacation with dial up, so I can't see the photos like I want to...but I will when I get home. I wanted to say hello, and let you know that I can read your text on your blog....and I follow you, so it doesn't matter to me whether you are at the bottom or not. I love to read every post you have. I do look forward to seeing the new look though...and I promise I will when I return home. Smiles from Jackie

  4. Hi Vicky! I noticed the new blog design when I read your last post. I liked both your designs. The previous one was quite an eyeful and fun, and this is sophisticated and neat! Whichever pleases you the most is fine with me :D

You've got extremely talented children! I suck at sports, so no further bright comments on that from me :)

  5. Congrats to all of the boys - that is great! Nolan and Colton are growing up so fast. Time just flies.

Honestly - sidebar. Had you not said something I wouldn't have even scrolled down at all. But the blog is your and yours alone - so do what you like!

  6. Liss, golf can be very relaxing, you and your daughter would probably enjoy it! Can't wait to see what you come up with for a new look for your blog :) Thanks for your input!

Stephanie, how observant of you, I too loved the curve of the club :) I had the same reasoning for thinking its perhaps okay to leave the links at the bottom, but we'll see where everyone falls in their preferences. And I did force the issue with DH to look, but he does read on occasion.

Jackie, how good of you to stop by! I hope you are enjoying your time in the mountains :) Thanks for weighing in on my dilemma!

Stillness, thanks for being supportive of the blog design :) My kids love their sports and activities, but they get ZERO of their prowess and talent from me :) Its all daddy! So you are in good company :)

Kristi, Time IS flying :) I'll bet Christopher will have changed so much by the time we get to see him again! Function over design or design over function? That is the question I am probably asking. How to achieve both :) I have to live with it for awhile and who knows what it will evolve into!

Missy, now wouldn't that be nice? We aren't however, holding our breath :)

  7. Look at those smiling faces! Great pics. And I agree, links at bottom won't get as much action.

  8. I love the clean look, too. I've removed most of the things from my sidebar for that very reason (labels and such). The only problem with putting everything below is that people will not scroll down every time they visit, so if you put something new down there, you would need to let everybody know. :)
I really like the look! :)
