"Finding Faith, feeling alive..."

I didn't want to keep anyone in suspense!  So I am jumping on Rick's lap top and posting a link to something that has been written about me and my family in the new She Says section of the Fargo Forum.   I'm completely humbled.  Every one of us has a story to tell, and someone found my worthy enough to write about.  My intention is to offer hope to any one else that may be going through a rough time.  And Roxane, who writes for She Says, and is both a blogger and a friend,  far exceeded my expectations in weaving together this tale of what my life has become.  Thank you Roxane, for seeing me, and using your talents to get me just right!

  3. This article expresses the heart of Vicky. As I read it through tear-filled eyes, I could imagine Mr. Willard smiling and nodding his head in heaven saying, "That's my girl."
Much love to you, my dear friend...

  4. how lovely! roxane is a good writer, and she captured so many good aspects of your story in that piece. i hadn't heard the laundry story, and yet i'm thankful for it for you. what we all crave is knowing He is as close as we need Him, and He proved that that's exactly what He does.

enjoy your little excursion--can't wait to hear all about it!

  6. Great article. The line that really hit me was, "empty yourself of grief and sorrow so you can fill yourself with joy".
    That's powerful stuff.

  7. Vicky, so honored to have been a conduit for this precious story of what it means to truly live. The laundry room scene will never leave me. It's the best description of being in the depths of suffering and coming out of it with grace that I can imagine for a fellow mother. Thank you so much for opening your heart and allowing me the chance to see what I could do. I love Jackie's comment about your father's nods of approval. I believe that too and was thinking the same thing! :) Finally, I can't wait for you to see the newspaper version. I hope you keep it and look at it for many years as you think back on this time of struggle and how you moved through it with such class. XXOO, Roxane

  11. “Faith is not tidy. Faith is not neat. It’s messy. It’s hard. It can’t be contained. It’s big and that’s really what happened. It grew exponentially because I had to really start digging deep.”
    Wonderful article Vicky!! Loved it!
Merry Christmas!! I'll be up in your neck of the woods Dec. 28th for a hockey tournament...so fun :)

  12. Simply beautiful Vicky.

I always look forward to stopping by because in the midst of pain and suffering joy prevails.

    I am encouraged.

And I too am living intentional, in the moment, and purpose filled.

  13. Vicky, the Forum article was such a wonderful surprise! Reading it made me feel warm from the inside out, just like your blog does when I read it! The glow comes from you; you are truly an inspiration! You and your family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. I often ask my grandson, David (Colton's friend) how you all are doing. He is so proud to wear his bracelet. Breast cancer has touched our family, so we can understand all that you are going through. Continue to be intentional and "fight like a girl"; you are a blessing! God Bless and have a Merry Christmas! Rebecca Lindell

  17. This is a wonderful article. I love the idea of living your legacy now. It puts direction and focus on every action.

I'm reminded of the closing lines of the movie American Beauty:

"...its hard to stay mad when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much. My heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst. Then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain, and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life."

  20. I read the entire article Vicky. I have never read a more poignant piece of writing than this. It captures everything very delicately and beautifully. I can totally understand what you must have gone through the day you knelt down at the laundry. There are very few people who can be strong and positive in the face of adversity. You are one of them. May God bless you and heal you. Lots of love Vicky :)
