Funny how the threat of death gives us the gift of valuing life so much more ... suddenly we want to grow old instead of dreading it. Suddenly we treasure every second and refuse to waste a moment on anything petty. Your insightful posts urge and inspire me to follow your lead - to be in the moment - to treasure every minute. For this I will ever be grateful to you.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful bithday today dear Vicky and many, many more.
Hoping you have a beautiful birthday Vicky!!! Such a good reminder as I'm turning 50 in 6 months...Lord willing!..and I find myself whimpering about it. Every birthday that we have is a gift from God and we know it!!! Wrinkles are just a sign that He's given us more time on this earth with the ones we love :)

ReplyDeleteMany birthday blessings on your special day!
Happy Birthday and may God grant you many more.
ReplyDeleteI love your perspective, Vicky. I'm right behind you, creeping up on 43 in September. Last night, my husband, who turns 43 next month, said it occurred to him at work that 43 is nearly here and he panicked. I need to remind him what you said. I love the quote shared here: "The people with the most birthdays live the longest." That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteLive large and long, Vicky. You're a beautiful inspiration.
A VERY happy birthday TO YOU! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy, happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteVery seldom do I scold people, except when I hear them complain about having another birthday. I usually look them in the eye and state very plainly, "Well, for me a birthday is a reminder of the gift of life I have been given!" I guess it is all about perspective.
Here is to many, many more birthdays for you!
Also, hoping that for your birthday gift you will get to dance with Mr Stable for many years (like 60 or so!)

ReplyDeleteI tell my age proudly and I cherish my birthday because at age 25 I had pre-melanoma. We caught it in time and the surgeon chose the right one of five to biopsy (the other four were benign). He told me if it had been left alone to grow, I would not have made it to age 30. That was back when extremely little was known about melanoma (1979). I am now 57 and thankful to still be here.
So celebrate, girl and continue to celebrate through the years! :>)
Boy those are nice pics. Wasn't life great back then?
ReplyDeleteKids had time to be themselves and not be constantly pushed and pulled and life was calm, not hyper.
Yes good memories and many still to make :)
Happy Belated Birthday Vicky! You will live to be a hundred :-) Loads of love to you and God's choicest blessings :)
