Happy 12th Birthday Colton Jack!

Happy Birthday Bubba!   You were such a big baby, almost 9 lbs., and we took you two weeks early, or gosh knows how big you may have become!

As I sat looking back through your pictures, a  funny and great story went along with each of these photos and I have thoroughly enjoyed remembering.   We all got a chuckle out of them.

The one where you are crying?  You were playing knee hockey with your brother and his stick got you in the leg.  So your Dad was trying to make you feel better, and helped you blow your nose, and your tooth came out!

That first golf trophy you won?  You had to go to a playoff to win- and beat the other boy.  You held your cool so well, and we were all duly impressed with how you handled the pressure.

That classic photo of your brother strangling you?  The only year we didn't send out a Christmas card- and now we totally wish we would have- and maybe still will.  That is quintessentially you and your brother.  Polar opposites in so many ways, and yet the bond you share with him is still cemented in place.

We asked what you might like to get for your birthday?  Oh some Star Wars legos.  And could we just cook dinner and eat at home?  Maybe go to Tutti Frutti for frozen yogurt later? So simple.  So classic Colton.  He has my heart that one.

Yeah, that's all he really wanted.  He also happened to get his brother's hand me down golf clubs.  Colton was ecstatic.  He doesn't care which brand, what color, or where they came from.  To him, they're new.  And everything he has always wanted.  He lined them up in his room along the wall so he could see them before he went to bed and when he woke up.

And if it was okay?  The only thing he needed was a "stroller thingie," you know, so he could walk with the clubs in the bag.

We laughed again.  Dad has a "cart," for the bag so Colton can walk with them.

He is growing so- but that little boy in him is still there underneath it all.

Colton- love you to the moon- and as you always say- I know mom, and all the way back.

  5. My dear friend,
I am so in love with the "birthday parade" of those near and dear to you!
First, Nolan...then Gitz and now Colton! What a treasure they all are and now your
"baby" is 12. What a JOY he is, that smart and funny and sweet young man who loves his Momma so. You can see how he feels about you, and the strong connection he has with you, in the pictures of both you and Colton. What a blessing!

Praying for you friend, the news of your recent tests, and for three more weeks, and months and forever!
Love YOU to the moon and back!

  6. Love me some Colton! Happy Birthday, Bud! The tooth story is AWESOME and love LOVE the picture with Nolan strangling you! (Vicky, you REALLY should send that out this year - it's priceless. So brotherly!) I always tell your mom you remind me so much of my "baby" and he's 19 and six feet tall. He was two-and-a-half weeks early and he weighed 9 lbs., too! Boy, you're mom and I sure got a break getting you guys here early! We might have had to give birth to baby elephants! And my guy has always liked simple pleasures the best, too, with just us and simple things at home. I think you guys would like each other. All the neighborhood kids knock on our door and ask if he can play. hahaha Hey, and I'm glad you got your "stroller thingy." Those come in really handy. By the way, we all think your mom is AWESOME and you know, of course, that she is. Thanks for sharing her with us. Enjoy being 12. It's a GREAT age and Happy Birthday, again!
