Life-lines

Pioneer Woman's sour cream noodle bake.  Recipe here.

Yes, I made this for dinner last night and I'd highly recommend it.  We skipped the green onions and did some garlic instead.

Talk about a night and day difference.  And I'm not sure what it really is?  But somehow without changing a whole lot of anything, Dr. P gave me the confidence to keep on with the Tykerb.  He seemed pleased.  Pleased with my blood counts.  Thought I looked great.  And I had to admit, I was feeling better than last weekend.

So he gave me some management ideas for my symptoms and I felt reassured.

We then discussed what the coming treatments may entail, and I realized they entail not just the possibility of diarrhea, but losing my hair, nausea, and a whole truckload of other possible side effects, Better the devil you know sometimes.

So I told him we'd stick with Tykerb as long as we could... and then he enthusiastically replied "And you never know what new treatment is in the pipeline!"

I swear, he threw me a life-line just then.  He fills me with hope when I am running thin sometimes and its all I need to go home and swallow my next dose of 5 orange Tykerb pills.

We always pray the medication will have mercy on us.

  9. So thankful you are feeling a bit stronger, and even better - hopeful. It's amazing how hope can change our perspective.

And I'm going to have to give that recipe a try. I try not to do too much pasta (even though I love it) so my family will be excited to see this on the table.

  10. Wow that looks yum!

So glad you are feeling better and your doctor is right, you do look great.

I think I love your doctor. He is indeed special and he knows what he is talking about. I am glad you have such a caring person around you.

I have been spending months caring for my sister with advanced Parkinsons. She is very young. We have just been thrown a lifeline with an opportunity to try a new treatment program. A lot of it is about managing symptoms etc. You just never know what new thing is around the corner.

You are open to new things and should be very hopeful. You just never know what little miracles are on their way. Keep your eye on the shiny glitters of hope. It is hard but if there is anyone that can do this it is you. We all know it and you are always in our prayers.

  13. Vicky, I also love the fact that he still believes that Tykerb is working is good, because...if you can just push through here, there is hope. And I don't say that thinking it's easy by any means, but it means he thinks it's working! You DO look great. You've never not looked great. I'm sure you haven't felt great many times, but you always show your best, Vicky. Your will to live and move past this thing is extraordinary and such a witness. I'm rooting for you as always, hopeful with Dr. P and you.
