Happy 14th Birthday Nolan!
Buddy, you were three years in the making- we were never quite sure if I'd even be able to conceive you. But then that day, I went to get, yet another pregnancy test, and found that penny on the ground outside of Target. Somehow, I just knew.
Then that first doctor's appointment when we found out our due date, Mother's Day of the year 2000.
The miracle of you, has never ceased to amaze us.
You of course put us through our paces with a harrowing labor and delivery. But then we all fell instantly in love with you. Your doctor even came in early the next morning and gave you a bath- something the nurses said she never did. But she was smitten, and not shy about it. That was just the start of how much you would weave yourself into our hearts, as well as others.
There has always been an impishness to your smile. You're so earnest, and often very innocent, but there is just a hint of mischievousness that tugs at the corners of your mouth- a person has to wonder.
Yet, you continue to achieve and do well. You've been on the Dean's list this year, were Student of the Month the first month of school this year and even received a Breakfast of Champions certificate.
You love hockey with all of your heart and work so hard to be a good student of the game. Your passion for golf is also evident- and I'm happy to say it was your mom who first taught you how to swing. It might have been a plastic club, with a plastic ball, but you and I sailed that ball all over Southern Idaho.
And we've never stopped. You trail blaze your path in life, and your Dad and I do all we can to follow your lead. You're funny, soft hearted, stubborn, and yet kind all at once.
I can't wait to see more of who you are, and who you become, all of your years Nolan. I feel so lucky God sent you to us to be your parents.
Love you to the moon- and all the way back.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there!
