... a hint at where we are going...
and another hint...
Its not a secret... but my hesitation in announcing anything about our planned trip is that its fallen through twice before.
Mastectomy beckoned the first time. Radiation treatment grabbed me the second time.
But if cancer has taught me anything- its to not sit back on my heels for very long.
So when Rick's brother Matt, and his wife Julie asked if Grandpa Jim wanted to come to the beach with them- Jim in turn asked if we wanted to drive and stay with him, and all of them.
And we do!
So we are!
We are going to...
MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA!
We have a condo reserved already... on the beach!
We will be gone over Easter Break...
(I know, the ocean may be pretty chilly and the weather a little on the cool side)
OH WELL.
And what continues to touch us- to truly amaze us- is how excited ALL OF YOU have been for us... wow!
You've sent emails, texts, and generous gifts- sheesh- I am flat out of words for how incredibly thoughtful you all are.
In the meantime... we finally got a bunch of snow. And we have a ton of hockey left to play.
And I'm counting gifts like always and my list/heart overflows...
Oh Vicky ... so great ... this will be a wonderfull trip, I am sure!!!

Thanks Mimi- its not Germany- but its still a wee bit closer to you :) Bussals sweetie!
DeleteEnjoy the beach...and the trip along the way.
ReplyDeleteIt is always important to smell those roses along the way...
Happy times for all of you!
Love you my friend,
Jackie
P.S. Welcome to the South!!
Thank you Jackie- we will enjoy each day and plan a stop or two along the way :) Always love going to the South :)
DeleteHave so much fun!!! I absolutely can't wait to see the awesome pictures you will bring back!
ReplyDeleteI am so looking forward to having more than white to photograph again!! Hoping some blue sky and blue ocean with sunshine will be part of the plan!
DeleteThat is fantastic! I am sure you will enjoy it very much! I am so thrilled for you!
ReplyDeleteHi Verna! Why thank you- we are truly excited!
DeleteThat is fantastic! I am sure you will enjoy it very much! I am so thrilled for you!
ReplyDeleteSoo happy for you girlfriend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Glad you announced it and made it real. It will happen!
ReplyDeleteRoxane- yes- it feels good to be moving forward and making plans for sure :) I believe it will too!
Deletehow fun....and no matter what the weather is, it's the beach !!!
ReplyDelete{that's always my motto}
I know- exactly right- as long as it isn't snow we're good :)
DeleteOOOH, you have to go see the DIXIE STAMPEDE!!! Your boys will love it!!.. so much fun for the whole family, really really!!
ReplyDeleteWell.. I just googled that for you ..and apparently, the Dixie Stampede has changed over to the Pirates Voyage. I have no idea if it will be as good, because the STampeded was outrageous fun.. but it's still run by the one and only Dolly Parton. So...
ReplyDeleteSo I googled it last night and it looks amazing! We will definitely check it out!! Thanks for the tip- I know there is so much to do and see :)
DeleteWhat a great thing to have to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteSusan- exactly- having something to look forward to is what gets us through these long, cold days :)
DeleteYee ha, how exciting. The sea and sand, fresh air and change of scenery is so good for the soul. You all deserve a wonderful holiday and something to look forward to especially after all that cold weather you have there.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Roxanne, once you put it in print it is going to happen. count down the days. I bet all your boys are excited too!!! And I cannot wait to see what photos you bring back too. It is an area I have always wanted to visit. I have very romantic notions about South Carolina and not sure where that came from.
Lilly- I've been several times and I can see why you'd have romantic notions about SC! The boys are cautiously optimistic- still a lot of hockey left to play so they are staying focused :)
DeleteSo exciting! I remember heading down that way to Florida from Montreal but you seem further away than we were according to that map.
ReplyDeleteShould be a lot of fun.
:)
Yes- I can't do too many miles/hours in the car anymore- so we are planning on taking 3 days to drive there and breaking it up a bit- but its a haul! Worth it though!
DeleteWow Vicky, how exciting. The beach will be very calming and healing...there's just something about the water, waves and sand. So happy for you.
ReplyDeleteI agree Lisa- the beach is always a form of renewal to me!
Deleteeeeek did you hear me squeel all the way from California?????
ReplyDeleteSo dang excited for you Vicky - I know how the time at the beach will restore you, bring you peace and feed your soul! I hope to some day visit the beaches on the gulf coast - i have only vague memories of Myrtle beach as I was there when I was about 7 or 8. And you are so right, its ok that it will be a bit chilly - the beach is fantastic just about anytime!!
Truly delighted for you and your family!!
xoTiffany
Yes Tiffany!! I know how well you know this! California was my first trip to the ocean (Laguna Beach) when I was 21 and I've loved it ever since! Thanks for being so excited for us!
DeleteOh, that sounds so fun! (Especially now that you're living in a frozen tundra!)
ReplyDeleteMelissa- exactly- anyplace not frozen works for us!
DeleteHow exciting! That will be so wonderful and nice. I'm so happy for you!
ReplyDeletePS--hope you are staying warm right now! I heard this morning it is beyond cold in Minot! Yikes...BRRRRR!!
Thinking of you! :)
Wonderful, Vicky! I have a friend that moved there from Vermont last year and he and his wife love it! I know you will have a great time.
ReplyDeleteHugs! Eileen
I'm a long time reader but first time commenter, I got so excited when I saw your map. I live in Myrtle and March will be a lovely time to visit. Still cool enough to actually enjoy being outside for longer than 5 seconds but warm enough for flip flops! I hope you and your family have a wonderful visit! Sending prayers your way as well :)
ReplyDeleteYou truly symbolize living life to the fullest..to the best of your abilities and I admire that.. A royal salute to you. Hope you had a fun trip!
