sometimes...

Sometimes...

 after Herceptin infusion...

I feel…

yucky.

A gnawing nausea sits in my stomach… begging for relief.

Sometimes...

after infusion...

fatigue starts chasing me into bed more than I'd like to be.

And Rick has to leave overnight…

with Nolan.

So I call from my bedroom for help from Colton.  Because he'll find the bin of meds.  And bring me something to drink.  But he couldn't hear me.  So I just laid there.

Till hours later, a groggy boy appeared, rubbing his sleepy-eyes, asking if he could just sleep with me to feel better?

Everytime...

he makes everything feel right with the world again.

Everytime…

 I just love that kid.

  1. Oh my blessed friend,
I am so, so grateful for you and I am honored that you share the times that are not so easy, along with the times that are so, so wonderful. We just get snip-its of each other's lives
as we read blog posts and sometimes forget that even though you are Stable Mable...you are still fighting cancer and getting infusions. Some days and nights are still not easy.

And that sweet boy of yours with the huge heart who adores his Mama more than words can ever express, everytime his unconditional love is a salve for your soul. Colton is like an angel, unafraid to let everyone know how much you matter to him. Love, love, that picture of his contented sleeping...a reminder that as long as you are nearby, all is well for him.

I'm off to the ocean (Cannon Beach, Oregon) for a week with a gal friend. Just so you don't worry. Know that as always I am sending you huge hugs, loves and prayers...always prayers.
To the moon and back, dear Vicky!
    Love,
    Linda

Hugs and love to you, sweet friend. You endure and overcome more than most will ever begin to even think about. And always with such love in your heart. Only one of the many reasons I am honored to call you "friend. "

  5. Oh, Vicky! I'm so sorry you didn't have anyone right there when you needed someone. Don't want your family to feel badly, it happens to all of us. But that sweet Colton who showed up to fill your heart with love...priceless. I love that dear boy, too... and you, my friend! And you know, you really could text/call me (and countless others, I'm sure) who would love nothing more than to come over and fetch something for you.. I know you would rather not do that...but just try it sometime and see how your posse comes running. :) Might be good entertainment.

    Take care!

    1. Steph- all my go-to peeps were gone! It happens once in awhile :) And its true, as I hunt through person after person, I never think of someone new and I should! As it turned out- I was talking to a friend in the cities who called her mom who lives here. While we were still talking- her mom arrived at my door with exactly the things I needed! But I think lesson learned- I'll expand my list- good thinking :)

  6. Bless your heart, and his. I pray that you will find rest and strength today. Night-time is tough when there is pain and suffering involved; things are magnified in the night. God is with you, and you know this - with you no matter day or night. His everlasting arms are there. But it is so good to have a physical presence too. Glad your son was able to eventually be there for you, what a sweetheart. Sending love and prayers from over here xxx

    1. Its true Susan- alone and feeling unwell are a bad combo for me. Some people relish the solitude, but I like having a resource, or at least a physical presence nearby- tis true! Most days I do- I am very blessed in that way. Thankful for your insightful and kind words!

  7. So sweet. One of my favorite stages of babyhood is when you're holding the baby, patting his back and he begins to pat yours. Nothing beats the love of a child.

  12. Dear Sister know that you are loved by your little tribe and that you are in my prayers. It's great to be strong and all that but know that it is okay to cry, after a good cry I always feel better.
