My youngest niece Mackenzie, is turning two this Saturday! Rick and I travelled to Alabama to meet her for the first time when she was 8 months old. She was just delightful. And every time she smiles, I see her Dad's mouth. Nolan has a bit of that mouth and looked like his Uncle Matt when he was first born. We hope to go see Mackenzie and her family again this summer and get to learn about all the big girl things she is doing now.
She shares her birthday with my brother's wife, my sister-in-law Kelly. Although I must confess, I know Kelly's birthday is either the 20th or the 21st. She has told me before which exact day it is, and then I go right back to getting it wrong again. So now I choose not to try and remember and I just try to get a card in the mail close to that time :) I had to hunt all night to find a picture with her in it. I ended up going back 7 years and found a really cute one. I will tell you firsthand though, she is beautiful on the inside and out. She is a kind, generous, loving person and she brought warmth to our family as well as a lot of fun. We feel very lucky to have her as part of our family.
Also sharing the limelight on Saturday is my friend Amy. She became a fast friend the year her husband chose Nolan to be on his hockey team. And so like all good hockey moms she is celebrating her 40th birthday in Minneapolis at the WCHA Final Five... yes she is watching hockey! Hopefully she is squeezing in a little fun as well. Amy is sitting to my left, wearing black in the photo.
Happy Birthday Amy, Kelly and Mackenzie!!
