cell by cell

Here's the Story of the Day:
Second Thoughts

A part of me wants to make sure I am living all of life that is out there for me to live. Every little drop of it. But at the same time, I want to make sure that in that space of living, I allow it to change me.

I need to change the physiology of my body so that it doesn't continue to grow cancer, to host cancer, to know cancer.  If I don't feed my brain with new thoughts, and nourish my soul with sustenance of a spiritual kind, then how will I ever overcome cancer? Chemo, radiation and surgery are only a few tools in the arsenal needed to combat cancer.

When Karen @ This Old House II, mentioned that she had made a new header for my blog, I was excited. I love the warmth I feel when I visit hers, the vibe is inviting and I love visiting her corner of the world.  She brings it to life through her photos and talents as a photographer.  Please go visit, you won't be disappointed!

But before I could accept Karen's gracious offer, I had to let go of the old.  I would be taking down Gitz's beautiful header and blog makeover she surprised me with last spring.  Yet, somehow, I knew she'd want me to move forward.  I've saved Sara's header and will make it into a piece of art to have displayed on my desk.  So I took a big breath and said yes to Karen.   I am still coming from a place of yes, a place of, I'll try, a place of one thing different.

And look at the beauty Karen created for me? I love the shabby-chique feel of it.  The warmth, and of course my love of the color blue all combining to give me a new look to my bloggy home.  Thank you Karen!

I have lab work tomorrow, Dr. Panwalkar, and then chemo.

And later this morning I have an incredibly humbling event happening, and I will be sure to come back and share with you when I am back on my feet later this week!

  1. What a beautiful transformation. It IS warm and inviting - especially the photos in the header.

Welcoming the new, the possible is surely a healthy message to our body/mind/spirit. What a wonderful example you are! I will think today about ways I can open more to the possibilities rather than staying stuck in a comfortable, old rut!

  3. how insightful you are to know that you need more than medicine and procedures to combat cancer. choosing "yes" and "1 thing different" is so good! i was just reflecting with Bob last night about how different my life is at this point in the year than it was in january. looking back, i see it is because i said "yes" to several new things--jesus calling devo, memorizing scripture (24 vs total), 1000 gifts (at 1002 as of this morning!), and listening listening listening to God--that He used to create change in my life. so thankful.

will be praying for you tomorrow!

  4. I love this new look, Vicky. I do realize, though, how hard it must have said to change something that meant so much to you. But you're right....Sara would have wanted you to embrace change and embrace the new - to move forward, as you say.

I have to share something I hope you think is comical....

When you said you had to see Dr. Panwalker I read "PAINwalker." Now, you and I both know pain isn't funny but those weird things our eyes/brains do sometimes are. And we gotta find our chuckles where we can. Praying for good results, easy tests, and NO PAIN-walkers! Love you.

  9. Hard to let go, I know, my friend.
I have a strong feeling that Gitz would be nodding her head with approval....and loving your new look. It's lovely, Vicky.
As you undergo your labwork and chemo tomorrow, I hold your hand from afar. You are in my heart and prayers.
I hate cancer!! (Is that too strong? I'm feeling that way this evening. Harboring bitter feelings toward the "C"...and praying that God will lead me through the bitterness....because I know He doesn't want me there.)
Please, Dear God...take care of Vicky. Take tender care of her...
    Love,
    Jackie

  13. Greetings Sweet Vicky! I change up my header seasonally or so. I like the change of a new season and the different feel that it brings. I don't always embrace every change, but I do believe in the power of a fresh thought and approach. I think this is a good change and it is warm, as others have mentioned, just like your words. Hugs as you face the excitement of the event you mentioned, and the lab work that will provide evidence as to what's going on inside your body. We all know what's going on inside your soul and it is a gift to us all.
